Jesus, God's Special Gift
God has a gift for us.
Because he loves us so much he gave us his very own son, Jesus. The Bible describes it this way: “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NLT).”
That reference to perishing is there because the Bible also tells us that the wrong thoughts, attitudes and actions in our lives – what it calls sin – separate us from God. Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned: we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
And if we died with this separation, we would be separated from God forever. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).”
God offers the gift of salvation through Jesus to us with the desire that we will acknowledge our sinfulness, ask for forgiveness and accept him into our lives.
And when we do, the Bible says even the angels rejoice! “In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents (Luke 15:10 NLT).”
