Dr. Paul Chitwood presents the Distinguished CP Leadership Award to Harold Greenfield.
FLORENCE – Harold Greenfield, retired director of missions for Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association, was presented the Distinguished CP Leadership Award during the afternoon session of the Kentucky Baptist Annual Meeting today in Florence.
The award is presented to individuals who have given long-term, significant support among Kentucky Baptists for the Cooperative Program, the unified program of funding missions across Kentucky, North America and the world.
Six congregations also were singled out as top CP givers in total dollars and per capita giving, and 12 others were recognized for reaching giving milestones during the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
Much of Greenfield’s 60 years in Christian ministry has occurred in Western Kentucky. He was Caldwell-Lyon DOM for 29 years and also led Little River Baptist Association, and was interim DOM for Muhlenberg Baptist Association. On his retirement in 2000, Greenfield had preached 180 revivals and 21 mission conferences in 80 Kentucky counties, 13 other states and seven countries.
In a 20-year period, every church in the Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association gave to missions through the Cooperative Program. From 1972 until 1999, CP giving in the association increased from 8.9 percent in undesignated receipts to 13.2 percent.
A past president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, Greenfield was a charter member of the Kentucky Fellowship of Directors of Missions, serving in each officer’s role, including president.
