CP Totals Ahead of Working Budget through January
02/16/2010
LOUISVILLE – Kentucky Baptists gave $2,191,737 through the Cooperative Program in January, bringing totals for the fiscal year 1.8 percent ahead of pace for the KBC’s working budget of $23 million.
Five months into the 2009-2010 year, those gifts also represent the highest amount given during any month this fiscal year.
Kentucky Baptists have given a total of $9,756,480 so far this fiscal year, which began in September and will end in August. That amount is $173,147, or 1.8 percent, ahead of the $9,583,333 needed through the end of January in order to keep pace with the working budget, said Lowell Ashby, Business Service Team leader for the KBC.
According to Ashby, January gifts also narrowed the fiscal year deficit to 4.35 percent, or $443,520, behind the original 2009-2010 budget of $24,480,000. Because of the challenging national economy, the KBC is operating under the approved working budget of $23 million for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, he said.
“It’s exciting to watch God at work in and through the lives of Kentucky Baptists as they faithfully serve in ministry and generously give through the Cooperative Program,” said Billy Compton, executive associate for Cooperative Program and resources. “Our relief efforts in Haiti this past month are just one of the many examples of how God is changing lives through Kentucky Baptists and through CP.”
