WORLD HUNGER: It's time to get personal
Hunger is no respecter of geography or ethnic group. It can be felt in an apartment in Eastern Europe, a cardboard shack in Central America, a tent in the Sahara, or a house in Kentucky.
Southern Baptist missionaries and volunteers are offering nourishment for the body and soul. And every Southern Baptist can have a part in those ministries through gifts to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund.

While Christ-followers, including Southern Baptists, are doing something about hunger in the U.S. and around the world, we could be doing a lot more. In fact, we can be assured that God expects us to do much more. He expects us to demonstrate an urgency to pray, to give, and to minister on behalf of those who are hungry--both physically and spiritually.
When will you get personal about hunger? If we take God's Word seriously, the malnourished and hungry are our problem. Those who are afflicted were made in the image of God. He cares about them, which means we are to care about their welfare as well.
Ways You Can Help
Give Directly to the World Hunger Fund
Please be aware that there is a critical need for replenishing World Hunger funds! World Hunger funds are used solely to distribute food in Jesus’ name through approved food ministries and by Southern Baptist state, North American and international missionaries. (Unless otherwise designated by the giver, 85 percent of world hunger gifts are used to help alleviate hunger overseas and 15 percent is used here in the United States. Gifts must be designated "Kentucky Only" if the desire is for them to be used only in the state.)
If you are a member of a Southern Baptist church, make your World Hunger Fund gift by placing it in the offering plate of your church with "World Hunger Fund" or "World Hunger Fund – Kentucky Only" on your check or offering envelope. Or, if you are not a part of a church, you can give directly by clicking here.
One of the beautiful things about the Southern Baptist World Hunger funds is that 100 percent of the funds are used to alleviate hunger. Because the Cooperative Program and other missions offerings cover the costs of putting missionaries in the field, no administrative costs are deducted from World Hunger Fund gifts.

Fast One to Feed One
One easy way to set aside personal funds for meeting hunger needs is to participate in Fast One to Feed One.
It’s a simple plan:
- Fast one meal each month and use the meal time to pray for needs in your community.
- Give the amount you would have spent on the meal through your church to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund.
Why should you "Fast One to Feed One?" God delights in a fast that alleviates the need of others. In Isaiah 58:6-7, the prophet speaks of fasting as an act to be directed toward one’s fellowman:
"Isn't the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and to not ignore your own flesh."
World Hunger Bread Bank
For less than a dollar a person, your church, school, or community group can fight world hunger together by collecting money in the official World Hunger Bread Bank. All banks are U.S. manufactured using FDA-approved plastic. The top of the bank pulls off easily, making this a highly reusable product year after year.
Information for placing future orders or receiving additional resources on world hunger is imprinted on the bottom of each bank. For more information, visit www.worldhungerfund.com or click here to order from WMU.
