Adult Kentucky Changers in Louisville Sept. 28-Oct. 2

08/23/2011

LOUISVILLE – The Kentucky Baptist Men on Mission Department is seeking 150 adult volunteers to help provide housing for people in financial need.

Registration is underway for a fall Adult Kentucky Changers project in Louisville, Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.

According to Peggy Murphy, Kentucky Changers’ leaders hope to repair and renovate a total of four houses.

“We will be doing work inside and outside the homes, everything from painting and replacing siding to general carpentry,” Murphy said.

"All that is needed is a willingness to serve," she added. "No matter how skilled or unskilled you are, there will be jobs for you."

The Kentucky Baptist Convention Baptist Men on Mission Department is working with the Fuller Center for Housing on the project.

“They are a non-profit organization that exists to renovate substandard housing to support home ownership and eliminate homelessness,” Murphy explained.

With so many Kentucky Baptists in the metro Louisville area, Murphy said she hopes prospective volunteers who might be unable to serve the entire project will consider contributing a single day or a few hours over more than one day to help.

“If several people can help even for one or two days, it’s possible we could meet our goal of repairing all four houses,” she said.

The $75 per person registration fee includes lodging for out of town volunteers, meals, and a T-shirt.

Online registration is underway at www.kybaptist.org/kychangers. Look for "Adult Changers."
