Messenger Cards
Upon request, the Executive Office mails messenger cards to churches that will be sending representatives to the Southern Baptist Convention and/or the Kentucky Baptist Convention annual meeting.
Churches elect messengers (not delegates) to various denominational meetings, including the annual convention. The messengers determine the course of many programs, ministries and institutions of the convention and its staff as guided by the KBC Constitution and Bylaws.
Article III of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Kentucky Baptist Convention states:
The membership of this Body shall consist of messengers from cooperating affiliated Baptist churches as follows:
(1) A cooperating Baptist Church is in friendly cooperation with this Convention; is sympathetic with its purposes and work; has during the fiscal year preceding been a bona fide contributor to the Convention’s work; and is understood to be a congregation of baptized believers in general agreement with any of the historic Baptist confessions of faith and willing voluntarily to report its activities to the offices of the Kentucky Baptist Convention on a regular (usually annual) basis.
(2) Two messengers shall be allowed from each cooperating affiliated Baptist church having one hundred members or less. One additional messenger for each such church shall be allowed for each additional two hundred fifty members, or for each $250.00 contributed to the Cooperative Program during the fiscal year preceding the annual meeting, but no churches may be allowed more than ten (10) messengers.
(3) Ballots will be issued to each messenger at the time one registers.
If you’d like to request your messenger cards in advance of the annual meeting, contact the Executive Office at messenger@kybaptist.org or call (502) 489-3577 or (866) 489-3577 (toll free in Kentucky only).
