Noss is President-Elect of the 2012 Pastors' Conference

11/14/2011

FLORENCE – The Kentucky Baptist Pastors’ Conference elected Wesley Noss as president-elect at its annual meeting Nov. 14 at Florence Baptist Church at Mt. Zion.

Noss will preside over the 2013 pastors’ conference in Paducah.

Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Versailles, Noss was nominated by Paul Badgett, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pikeville.

Steve Hill, pastor of New Horizon Baptist Fellowship in Glendale, was also expected to be nominated, but Mark Payton explained that a decision had been reached before the conference not to place Hill’s in nomination.

Payton, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church at Shively Heights in Louisville, who had planned to nominate Hill, said in years past, when more than one person was nominated for the position, one of the nominees likely would be considered less theologically conservative than the other.

Payton said Noss and Hill both are theologically conservative pastors and so “to let the state know that the conservatives are not divided,” Payton said it was decided, with Hill’s blessing, that Hill’s name would not be placed in nomination this year.

Payton said Hill may be nominated at next year’s conference. If elected, he would preside over the 2014 pastors’ conference.

Noss was elected by acclamation.

Chad Fugitt, pastor of Central Baptist Church in Corbin, served as president this year. Jeff Noffsinger, pastor of Dripping Spring Baptist Church in Olmstead, will preside at next year’s meeting, Nov. 12, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington.
